Wallace Monument - Stirling, Scotland (HS)

A memorial to William Wallace (d1305) which is accessed from the road below via a steep stepped slope. This spectacular monument has 4 floors reached by climbing, again, up a spiral staircase.

Two of the floors commemorate the life of William Wallace and his struggles with the English for Scottish independence. There is an audio video display and a replica of his two handed sword. For those with a head for heights there is access to the roof where the views of Stirling Castle and the surrounding countryside is truly amazing.

The entrance fee may seem at first pricey but you are unlikely to be disappointed if you can make it to the top.
